How Many Types of Overhead Cable Insulators Do You Know?

Image
What Is An Overhead Line Insulator? On one end of the high-voltage power line connection tower hangs a lot of disc-shaped insulators, which are designed to increase the creepage distance, usually made of glass or ceramic, and are called overhead line insulators.  An overhead line insulator is a special insulating control that can play an important role in overhead transmission lines and is a device installed between conductors of different potentials or between conductors and ground potential components that can withstand the effects of voltage and mechanical stress. Earlier, cable insulators are mainly used for poles, with the development and needs of society, gradually applied to high-type high-voltage power line connection towers. It is mainly used to increase the creepage distance (creepage distance is the short spatial distance between two conductive parts. Or, they are between a conductive part and equipment and easy to contact surface measured along the surface of the insula...

Briefly Explain The Role of Cable Termination Joints

Image
Cable termination and joints are a very important process in cable construction, and the quality of cable termination and joints directly affects the quality of the entire electrical engineering construction. Therefore, in the process of cable construction, we must conduct a comprehensive analysis of all aspects of the cable to ensure that the cable can work effectively and stably for a long time, which is also the main role of cable termination and joint work. 1. Characteristics Of Cable Termination Joints At present, when carrying out cable construction, cable accessories mainly use chemical synthetic materials as the insulator material for cable termination. This material is mainly based on the method of applying high-quality rubber insulation, which is scientifically processed so that the original rubber material with good hydrophobicity can be further developed. And it also greatly improves its self-healing property, and when water drops appear on this rubber material, it automati...

NKT Receives €155 Million Submarine AC Cable Order From Norway

Image
NKT Receives €155 Million Submarine Cable Order European cable manufacturer Ankett NKT has been awarded a €155 million cable order for the electrification of the North Alvheim North (NOA) and Krafla offshore fields in the NOAKA region of the North Sea. The project includes the design, manufacture, and installation of more than 255 kilometers of 145 kV high voltage AC cable by cable-laying vessel NKT Victoria. The project includes both onshore and offshore installations and the full electrification of the fields. Alexander Kara, President, and CEO of NKT said: "With this order, we continue our long-term partnership with Equinor to ensure the electrification of the Norwegian offshore industry. Once operational, our power cable solution will help reduce emissions from the Norwegian continental shelf." The project includes infield cables connecting the two main platforms, followed by a combined export cable to connect the fields to the onshore grid at the Børdalen substation in e...

About The Characteristics Of Mineral Insulated Cables

Image
Mineral insulated cables, also known as MI cables, are a type of electrical wiring that are used in a variety of applications due to their durability and performance in high temperature environments. These cables are made by enclosing conductive wires in a metal sheath, which is then filled with a highly stable insulating material such as magnesium oxide. One of the key benefits of mineral insulated cables is their ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Because the insulating material used in these cables is highly stable, MI cables are able to maintain their integrity and performance even in environments with temperatures as high as 1,000 degrees Celsius. This makes them ideal for use in a wide range of applications, including industrial processes, power plants, and even in the aerospace industry. Another advantage of mineral insulated cables is their durability. The metal sheath and insulating material used in these cables provide excellent protection against external factors suc...
